On March 9 (Wed), a major 7.3-magnitude offshore earthquake rattled Japan, swaying Tokyo buildings, triggering a small tsunami and thus reminding the nation of the ever-present threat of seismic disaster. No casualties were reported. They were lucky on that day.
Just two days later, on March 11 (Fri), another earthquake was measured at 8.9-magnitude by the US Geological Survey, and it was considered as the fifth major earthquake ever recorded on this planet. It was hit Japan at 1440 local time at a depth of about 240km and triggering the 10m tsunami along the offshore of Japan. The strong waves have swept away everything in its path, damaging dozens of coastal communities.

It also reported that the powerful earthquake appears to have shifted not only the main island of Japan 8 feet away (2.4 meters), but the earth on its axis (Source: CNN). Meanwhile, the scientists also predicting a major quakes due to the turbulence in the Pacific Ring of Fire continues with a series of minor earthquake near the East coast of Honshu, Japan (Source: CNN).
This devastating effect might have related with the 6.3-magnitude earthquake that was struck Christchurch, New Zealand on Feb 22. We now deem the planet unstable during this volatile seismic window due to the frantic magnitude of the seismic waves agitating plates across the globe. We must be prepared.
My condolences go out to those affected by this tragedy. Be strong yall! ❤
